Candidate Kim Min-seok was elected as the new leader of the Democratic Party after securing 54.08% of the vote at the party's national convention held at the Daejeon Convention Center today (17th).

Candidate Jung Cheong-rae recorded 45.92%.

With full support from President Lee Jae-myung, the newly elected leader Kim will lead the ruling party, which holds 161 seats in the National Assembly, and secure the nomination authority for the 2028 general elections.
