Following continuous heavy rainfall in the Geoje region of Gyeongsangnam-do early this morning (the 17th), which led to a series of flooding and landslide damages, the National Fire Agency urgently deployed a special rescue team.
The National Fire Agency announced that it has urgently dispatched the Yeongnam Special Rescue Team, Honam Special Rescue Team of the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters, and the Ulsan 119 Chemical Rescue Center to the scene, along with special equipment such as a high-capacity water cannon system.
Earlier, as heavy rain in the Geoje area coincided with a high tide, causing a surge in 119 calls regarding flooding and other issues, the Geoje Fire Station issued a Level 1 emergency response at 1:10 AM, and subsequently upgraded it to Level 2 at 6:18 AM.
Currently, approximately 180 support personnel have been deployed to carry out on-site responses, including rescue operations and safety measures.
In Yesol Village, Aju-dong, Geoje, about 100 residents evacuated due to the risk of landslides, while about 30 residents trapped by flooding and other issues in Hoejin Village, Ilun-myeon, were rescued.
