Actor Kim Seung-soo opened up about his harrowing battle with shingles.

On the August 16 broadcast of the SBS variety show "My Little Old Boy", Kim Seung-soo was featured discussing health concerns with fellow actor Kim Hyung-muk.

During the broadcast, Kim Seung-soo ate a health-boosting royal table meal prepared personally by his junior colleague Kim Hyung-muk, joking, "I have never received a meal like this in my entire life. Eating like this makes me feel like I could live to be 160 years old."

In response, Kim Hyung-muk asked, "Hyung, didn't you get shingles right before your drama started? You had shingles all over your face, didn't you?"

Kim Seung-soo shocked everyone by replying, "I thought I was going to die. Back then, my face was completely covered in blisters." He added, "It felt like someone was stabbing my face with a fork and scratching it. No matter how many painkillers I popped, I couldn't sleep."

Kim Seung-soo continued, recalling the terrifying situation: "Depending on where the virus attacks, that area's functions get paralyzed, and if it attacks the brain, it can even paralyze the body. I was told that the virus seemed to have attacked near my conjunctiva at the time. They said that if it reached the optic nerve, it would result in vision loss."

He shared, "I even thought, 'What if I actually go blind in one eye? How should I live then?' It made me look back on my life."

Listening to this, Shin Dong-yeob said, "I sat at the same table during Jun-ho's wedding and saw his face. He covered it with makeup back then so it wasn't as noticeable, but when he showed me a photo from when it was at its worst, it was the most severe case of shingles I had ever seen."

Kim Seung-soo's mother drew attention by saying, "He came to me after hearing that he could go blind, and he had a really hard time."
