South Korean national team midfielder Hwang In-beom, who joined prestigious Portuguese professional football club FC Porto this summer, delivered a brilliant performance in his league debut, recording his first attacking point.

Playing away in the second round of the 2026–2027 Primeira Liga held at the Estádio dos Arcos in Vila do Conde on August 16 (KST), Hwang helped secure a 2–0 victory by assisting the team's insurance goal.

Starting on the bench, Hwang stepped onto the pitch in the 21st minute of the second half as a substitute for Deniz Gül, with his team leading 1–0, and recorded an assist in the 39th minute of the second half to seal the win.

Receiving a pass from Alberto Costa who drove the ball forward, Hwang skillfully turned his body to redirect it, then threaded a pass to Borja Sainz, who was positioned wide open on the left.

Sainz finished it directly with a first-time right-footed shot, connecting it for a goal.

Six minutes later, Hwang had another opportunity for an additional assist.

He sent a sharp long pass toward Stephen Eustáquio, who was rushing into the penalty area. The ball reached the tip of Eustáquio's foot, but after bouncing once, it ended up in the opposing goalkeeper's arms, leaving him to swallow his disappointment.

Hwang, who left Feyenoord in the Netherlands on July 21 to wear Porto's jersey, made this match his second official appearance and league debut.

He joined the team on a three-year contract with an option for an additional year, and his transfer fee is known to be a base of 4.5 million euros (approximately 7.3 billion won) with an additional 500,000 euros in options.

Previously, Hwang made his official debut as a 28th-minute second-half substitute in the 2026 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira against second-division side SCU Torreense on August 2 (Porto won 1–0), lifting the championship trophy.

Afterwards, he was named to the substitute bench for the league opening match but did not play.

Last season's defending champions Porto secured their second consecutive clean-sheet victory to start the league, rising to the top of the standings with 6 points.
