A man in his 50s who went missing while engaging in nighttime haerujil (collecting marine products such as shellfish on tidal flats) on a mudflat in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, was found dead after 10 hours.
According to the Taean Coast Guard, at around 11:20 a.m. today (August 15), a fisherman digging for clams discovered 53-year-old Mr. A dead on a mudflat in Sowon-myeon, Taean-gun, South Chungcheong Province, and reported it to 119.
Police dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report retrieved Mr. A's body using a cultivator.
A 112 report had been filed stating that Mr. A was unreachable after going haerujil with companions near Tonggae Port in Sowon-myeon at around 1:15 a.m. today, prompting fire authorities and the coast guard to conduct search operations in the surrounding area.
