The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced that it has caught a total of 186 violations during a special crackdown on illegal street racing and reckless driving around the Cheonan and Asan areas on Liberation Day.

Police controlled traffic on 10 roads at expected gathering points for street racing groups and intensively cracked down on traffic law violations by cars and motorcycles.

The main violations caught include 14 cases of drunk driving, 3 cases of driving without a license, and 135 summary fines for offenses such as running red lights.

Drivers involved in drunk driving, unlicensed driving, and illegal vehicle modifications will face criminal punishment, while fines will be imposed for 20 cases, including exceeding noise limits.

A total of 299 personnel and 77 pieces of equipment from police and related organizations, including Cheonan and Asan cities, were mobilized for this crackdown.

Police explained that a total of 30 112 emergency reports related to reckless driving were received that day, marking a sharp decrease compared to last year (69 cases).
