The professional baseball team Doosan Bears moved within striking distance of third place, fueled by a powerful 12-hit offense.

Doosan defeated the KIA Tigers 10-4 in an away game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League regular season held yesterday at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field.

Securing their second consecutive win to improve to 55 wins, 4 ties, and 35 losses (a .545 winning percentage), the fourth-placed Doosan closed the gap with the third-placed LG Twins (57 wins, 1 tie, 47 losses, .548 winning percentage) to just half a game.

The game, which started 15 minutes late due to rain before the opening pitch, was interrupted again by rain for 52 minutes in the top of the first inning with Doosan leading 4-0.

When the game resumed, Doosan added two runs in the third inning with consecutive RBI hits by Park Chan-ho and Jung Soo-bin while leading 4-1, and extended their lead to 9-2 with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

KIA rallied in the seventh with two outs and runners on first and second when Na Sung-bum's hard-hit ball down the right-field line was initially called a foul, but overturned to a hit following a video review, bringing home two runs.

During this process, Doosan manager Kim Won-hyung was ejected after protesting the call.

This is the fourth managerial ejection of this season.

Doosan sealed the victory in the ninth inning when Park Ji-hoon delivered an RBI double.

In Suwon, the league-leading KT Wiz beat last-place Kiwoom Heroes 8-3, relying on timely hitting from their lineup.

KT gave up the lead in the top of the sixth inning when Kiwoom's Matt Davidson hit a two-run homer, falling behind 2-1.

They immediately turned the game around in the bottom of the sixth.

With runners on first and second with one out following hits by Huh Kyung-min and Han Seung-taek and a sacrifice bunt by Jang Jun-won, Choi Won-jun hit an equalizing RBI single. With the bases loaded and one out, a fielder's choice grounder to shortstop by Ahn Hyun-min brought the third-baseman home for the go-ahead run.

KT added another run via a double steal by Ahn Hyun-min and Choi Won-jun, who were on first and third, and padded their lead to 6-3 with an RBI double by Sam Hilliard.

In the seventh, they pulled further ahead by combining an opponent error and an RBI single by Kim Hyun-soo for two more runs.

KT starting pitcher Ko Young-pyo saw his consecutive scoreless innings streak end at 23 innings after giving up an RBI single to Kim Woong-bin in the fourth.

He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 8 with 3 runs allowed, recording a no-decision.

In Jamsil, the SSG Landers defeated LG 5-3, propelled by Choi Min-jun's stellar pitching and Kim Jae-hwan's go-ahead home run.

Starting against LG, Choi Min-jun pitched effectively, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 3 with 2 runs allowed over 5.2 innings.

Having forgotten to pack his own uniform and instead borrowing teammate Thomas Hatch's jersey, he carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning with one out.

Choi Min-jun, who has split time between the starting rotation and bullpen since joining the team in 2018, got the starting nod after scheduled starter Hatch was sidelined due to shoulder discomfort.

After issuing a walk to the first batter, Park Hae-min, in the first inning, he retired 16 consecutive batters up until the leadoff hitter in the sixth, Chun Sung-ho.

With the offense also providing two runs, Choi was in line for his first win since his season debut on April 2 against the Incheon Kiwoom Heroes (5 innings, 1 hit, no runs).

However, Choi allowed his first hit with one out in the sixth on a double to right field by Shin Min-jae, and surrendered a run with two outs on a right-center double by Song Chan-ui.

The SSG bench pulled Choi in favor of Kim Min, but Kim allowed an RBI single to Austin Dean, raising Choi's charged earned runs to two.

Tied 2-2 in the eighth inning with one out, SSG ignited their offense when Park Sung-han hit a double, followed by Kim Jae-hwan launching a go-ahead two-run homer over the center-field fence at Jamsil Stadium.

It was his 19th home run of the season.

In Daegu, the Samsung Lions beat the Hanwha Eagles 8-5, backed by Koo Ja-wook's five-hit, two-homer performance.

Claiming their first two-game winning streak of August, Samsung maintained a 1.5-game gap behind league leader KT and continued their race for the top.

Koo Ja-wook went 5-for-5 with two home runs and 3 RBIs.

Starting his hit parade with an infield single in the first, he hit a go-ahead solo home run over the right-field wall off Hanwha starting pitcher Bruce Zimmermann in the fourth.

Samsung made it 3-0 in the fifth with back-to-back homers by Kang Min-ho and Lee Jae-hyun, and Koo collected an RBI single to left with runners on first and second and no outs.

In the sixth, with the score widened to 7-1, Koo cleared the right-field fence again for his 12th home run of the season, before completing his five-hit game with a single to right in his final at-bat in the eighth.

Hanwha mounted a strong pursuit with three home runs.

Moon Hyun-bin hit a solo homer in the sixth, followed by a solo shot from Kang Baek-ho and a three-run blast from Park Jung-hyun in the eighth, cutting the deficit to 5-8 and bringing them within striking distance.

However, their momentum was halted in the ninth when Noh Si-hwan grounded into a double play with a runner on first and no outs.

In Busan, the NC Dinos won a slugfest against the Lotte Giants 9-8 to extend their winning streak to three games.

NC grabbed the early momentum to score six runs first, while Lotte showed late-game resilience to tie the game 6-6 heading into the ninth.

In the top of the ninth, NC capitalized on two consecutive hit-by-pitches and two consecutive wild pitches against Lotte's Kim Won-joong to score a run, and padded their lead with RBI hits by Lee Woo-sung and Park Min-woo.

Lotte closed within a single run in the bottom of the ninth with two outs following consecutive RBI hits by Han Dong-hee and Go Seung-min, but ultimately fell short.

Han Dong-hee launched his 14th home run of the season in the eighth inning, a colossal 135-meter extra-base home run over the left-field wall.

It is the 11th extra-field home run hit since the opening of Sajik Stadium.
