Regarding the direction of constitutional amendment on the power structure pursued by President Lee Jae-myung, Cheong Wa Dae stated, "We sympathize with the problems inherent in the imperial presidential system," adding, "We believe that a four-year consecutively elected presidential system with strengthened parliamentary authority has the highest level of public acceptance, rather than a cabinet system."

A Cheong Wa Dae official also explained, "Since constitutional amendment requires the consent of the National Assembly, it is desirable for it to be discussed and promoted within the parliament."

Previously, People Power Party lawmaker Kim Tae-ho claimed that during a recent golf meeting with President Lee, they discussed the necessity of constitutional amendment to reorganize into a decentralized power structure.
