National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik met with Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Gates Foundation, stating, "If your experience and wisdom are added to South Korea's capabilities, the pace of solving common problems for humanity will accelerate."

During a reception at the National Assembly today (the 14th), Speaker Cho said, "South Korea possesses high competitiveness in the AI and biotechnology fields, backed by world-class infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities, and exceptional talent," as he made the remarks.

Speaker Cho noted, "I understand that the World Bio Summit will be held in South Korea this October, and the Gates Foundation's South Korea office will open within this year." He added, "Taking this opportunity, the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea will further strengthen its partnership with global health organizations, including the Gates Foundation, and make 'global health' a key agenda of parliamentary diplomacy."

In response, Co-chair Gates expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank the Speaker and the National Assembly of South Korea for their interest in global health, and I also appreciate South Korea's significant contributions to the activities of global health organizations so far."

He also added, "To prevent global pandemics and other issues, our foundation is currently building close cooperative relationships with various South Korean companies, and I look forward to deepening these partnerships even further moving forward."
