Man in 50s Arrested After Crashing into Taxi and Police Car While Fleeing DUI Check in Sangam Intersection, Seoul

A man in his 50s has been arrested by police after crashing into a taxi and a police car while trying to flee a police crackdown triggered by a suspected drunk driving report at the Sangam Intersection in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Seoul Mapo Police Station announced that officers were dispatched at around 11:00 PM last night (August 13) following a report that there was a drunk driving vehicle on World Cup Bridge.

The suspected drunk vehicle made an illegal U-turn to avoid the crackdown at Sangam Intersection, sequentially crashing into a taxi and a police car before coming to a stop.

Due to the crash, two police officers inside the police car suffered injuries to their faces and other areas, and received hospital treatment.

The blood alcohol concentration of the suspect in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, at the time of his arrest at the scene was confirmed to be at the level for license revocation.

Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident involving Mr. A.
