A 22-year-old man, identified as A, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison suspended for three years for trespassing into a public restroom for sexual crime purposes, in violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.

Judge Seo Ji-hye of Criminal Division 4 at the Gwangju District Court announced today (August 14) that A was handed the suspended sentence on the charges.

A was also ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and face a three-year employment restriction at institutions related to children and adolescents.

A was indicted on charges of hiding in a women's restroom at a store on June 1 of last year and filming an adult woman's body with a smartphone.

Investigations revealed that A committed the crime after seeing an advertisement promising money in exchange for illegally filmed footage.

In addition, it was uncovered that A hid in women's restrooms for extended periods to satisfy sexual desires and repeatedly filmed unidentified women while using the restroom.

The court explained the reasoning for the sentencing, stating, "We considered factors such as the defendant admitting to the wrongdoing, vowing not to reoffend, and reaching a settlement with the victim during the investigation stage."
