The Daegu District Court announced today (August 14) that Judge Kim Dong-seok, presiding over Criminal Single Judge Division 1, has sentenced a man in his 50s, identified as A, to 10 months in prison on charges of special injury for striking a neighborhood senior on the head with a blunt weapon after being asked to repay a borrowed debt.

A was put on trial for the charges of becoming angered on October 9 of last year in the front yard of the home of B, a senior from the same neighborhood in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, after B said, "Give me the 30,000 won you still haven't paid back out of the 40,000 won I lent you," and striking the back of B's head twice with a blunt weapon found at the scene.

Due to A's crime, B suffered injuries including a scalp laceration requiring 14 days of medical treatment.

Judge Kim stated, "We took into account factors such as the high potential for severe harm, the failure to receive forgiveness from the victim, and the fact that the defendant is admitting to the crime."
