People Power Party Floor Leader Chung Jeom-sik criticized the government's August 13 real estate supply measures today (the 14th), stating, "If they continue to consist of recycled announcements and deceptive numbers games, no matter how good the measures are, they are bound to lose the trust of the market and the public."

During a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly today, Floor Leader Chung criticized, "They boast about supplying more than 1.5 million homes, but 1.35 million of these are just recycled versions of the LH-led public housing supply plan announced last year."

He also pointed out, "They say they will additionally secure 240,000-plus-alpha homes, which includes 100,000 homes from new residential sites on top of the 1.35 million homes. Among these, locations have only been announced for 27,000 homes across three sites: Gangseo in Seoul, Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province, and Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province. The locations for the rest have not even been decided, and their substance remains unclear."

He further criticized, "There is an aspect where the timing has already been largely missed due to the Lee Jae-myung administration's biased obsession with public-led housing supply."

Floor Leader Chung said, "While the capital area is suffering from a supply shortage and a triple surge in housing prices, regional areas are plagued by unsold properties everywhere you go. If overpopulation is the problem in the capital area, depopulation is the problem in the regions."

He added, "The real estate measures introduced by the Lee Jae-myung administration so far only feature the capital area and completely ignore the regions. If the government continues to persist with punitive regulations like it is doing now, the polarization of real estate between the capital area and the regions cannot be resolved. We must pursue the resolution of capital area concentration and balanced regional development."
