The carcass of a green sea turtle, an internationally endangered species, has been found on the coast of Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province.

According to the Uljin Coast Guard on August 14, an official from a wildlife protection center reported finding the carcass of a green sea turtle at Jangsa Beach in Namjeong-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun, at 11:43 AM the previous day.

The sea turtle was found to be a female measuring 120 cm in length.

An official from the Coast Guard stated that there were no external signs of illegal poaching.

The Coast Guard handed over the carcass to the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology.

Green sea turtles are designated as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and as a marine protected species by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
