Showers are expected nationwide today (August 14), which marks Malbok, one of the three hottest days of the year.

Between morning and evening, showers ranging from 5 to 40 mm are forecast, accompanied by sudden gusts, thunder, and lightning.

Rain is expected across the country during the upcoming Liberation Day holiday weekend.

Heavy rain is anticipated particularly centered around the southern regions.

Over the two days tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, more than 100 mm of heavy rain is forecast for mountainous areas of Jeju and the southern coast near Mount Jirisan. Additionally, 50 to 100 mm of rain is expected in South Gyeongsang, and up to 80 mm in other southern areas, which is expected to help alleviate the drought to some extent.

In the East Coast region where rain continues, an additional 5 to 10 mm of rain will fall until the afternoon.

Meanwhile, heatwave warnings will be expanded and take effect across various parts of the country starting at 11 a.m. today.

Temperatures will rise to 34°C (93°F) in Daegu and Gwangju, and 33°C (91°F) in Seoul and Daejeon, bringing hot and humid conditions.
