The People Power Party visited a third-generation new town construction site today (August 13) and met with prospective residents to criticize the government's loan policies. Regarding the real estate supply measures announced today, the party sharply criticized them as "rehashed policies that follow the failed trajectory of the Moon Jae-in administration."

The People Power Party's "Real Estate Normalization Special Committee," headed by Representative Chang Dong-hyeok, visited the construction site of the Changneung New Town in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, today.

Representative Chang met with prospective residents of the third-generation new town who are protesting that preferential loan conditions offered during the pre-subscription recruitment in 2022 disappeared just before the main subscription.

Regarding the real estate policies such as the August 13 supply measures announced by the government today, the People Power Party dismissed them as "deceptive loan-encouragement measures" and "substance-less measures" that simply rehash past policies.

In particular, pointing out that the household loan total ceiling target was doubled from 1.5% to 3% in just four months due to the so-called "loan open-run" phenomenon, the party argued, "It looks like the government is taking the lead in unlocking loan restrictions and pushing citizens into mountains of debt."

They also criticized the plan as "deceptive," noting that while the government claims it will additionally supply 230,000 homes in the Seoul metropolitan area, specific locations have been announced for only 27,000 of them, with merely 1,000 homes located on the Yeomchang Park site in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, where demand is actually concentrated.

Regarding the government's announcement to nearly halve the construction start period for public housing sites to 37 months, the Reform Party also demanded, "Various permits and approvals, such as land compensation and relocation, cannot be achieved just by shouting for a speed battle. Come up with specific implementation plans first."
