The U.S. Department of State has announced the formation of a dedicated task force to eradicate so-called "birth tourism," identifying cases of birth tourism aimed at securing U.S. citizenship for children and revoking more than 600 foreign visas.
The State Department emphasized that, as stated by President Trump, U.S. citizenship is not something that can be obtained by calculatingly exploiting U.S. immigration laws.
It also stated that the establishment of the dedicated task force is part of the Trump administration's immigration policy aimed at preventing children born to foreign parents temporarily or illegally residing in the U.S. from acquiring citizenship.
