Firefighters reportedly prevented a major fire on their way to provide drought relief in South Gyeongsang Province?

Two fire lieutenants from the Incheon Michuhol Fire Station, Im Hong-taek and Sim Bo-gang, were heading to a muster point in South Gyeongsang Province driving a water tanker yesterday (the 12th) morning under a national firefighting mobilization order.

About three hours after departure, while driving on the Tongyeong-Daejeon Expressway in Geumsan, South Chungcheong Province, they spotted a car carrier emitting smoke.

At the time, an electric vehicle was loaded on the carrier, meaning that if the flames spread to the battery, it could have led to a major fire.

The two immediately operated the water tanker to extinguish the main fire in the vehicle's lower engine compartment, and later cleared out the remaining embers with the support of the South Chungcheong Fire Department.

They successfully averted what could have easily escalated into a major fire through swift initial firefighting efforts.

After handing over the scene, the two headed to their original destination of Uiryeong, South Gyeongsang Province, to continue their drought support mission.
