The Chuseok holiday is just around the corner.

As the holiday approaches, the fierce competition for train tickets, often dubbed a national ticketing battle, is already heating up.

However, a recent report suggests that the ticketing competition might ease up a bit starting this Chuseok holiday.

This is because KTX and SRT are integrating on the 1st of next month, which will increase the supply of high-speed rail seats.

By optimizing train operations that previously suffered inefficiencies due to separate management, trains can now be scheduled more closely along the same routes.

An average of about 15,000 additional seats per day will be available on weekdays, and about 17,000 on weekends.

By route, the Gyeongbu Line will see the largest increase, adding around 6,900 seats on weekends.

Seats will increase by 9% for the Donghae Line and 9.2% for the Jeolla Line on weekends.

Chuseok train ticket reservations are scheduled to begin early next month.

This will serve as a test to see whether the increased number of seats can meet the high demand.
