Police special forces were dispatched to a residential area in Daejeon in the middle of the night. They were deployed to apprehend a man reported to be walking around a park with a weapon, and the suspect resisted while holding an electric saw. After a standoff, he was caught and turned out to be a wanted fugitive.

A 29-year-old man, surnamed A, was arrested at a multi-family housing unit in Galma-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, at 1:11 a.m. today (August 12).
Police were dispatched after receiving a report that a man was walking around a park with a weapon, and tracked him down to his residence.
Man A locked the door and engaged in a standoff with police for about an hour.
During this process, he threw glass bottles out of the window and resisted while holding an electric saw and a shield in both hands.

Earlier, man A wandered around parks and other places holding weapons in both hands and even slashed at trees with them.
However, during police questioning, he stated that he had no intention of threatening others, but was instead imitating martial arts practices he saw on YouTube and elsewhere.
Police stated that man A was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and had no history of psychiatric treatment.
However, it was revealed that man A was a wanted fugitive who had been staying in Busan in connection with obstruction of business charges.
Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the crime involving man A.
