In a high-rise apartment building in Russia, an elevator carrying more than its maximum capacity suddenly plummeted, leaving four passengers with severe leg injuries.

Footage shows the elevator abruptly dropping downward, causing the passengers to collide with one another and crash onto the floor.

According to the authorities' investigation, the apartment building was completed in 2021 but was found to be an illegal structure that had not received formal occupancy approval.
