President Lee Jae-myung met with U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Michelle Steel for the first time today (the 12th) and expressed his welcome.

President Lee greeted Ambassador Steel during the ceremony at the Blue House this morning, where he received credentials from newly appointed ambassadors from four countries, including the United States.

After receiving her credentials, President Lee said, "Welcome," and posed for a commemorative photo together.

He then greeted Ambassador Steel's husband, attorney Shawn Steel, saying, "Welcome," and also took a commemorative photo with him.

A presentation of credentials is an event where a newly appointed ambassador delivers credentials issued by their home country's head of state to the head of state of the host country.

Along with Ambassador Steel, President Lee also received credentials from Portuguese Ambassador to South Korea Vanda Maria Dias Stelzer Sequeira, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to South Korea Jamal Al Suwaidi, and Irish Ambassador to South Korea Sean Hoy.
