A vehicle caught fire on Olympic-daero in Seoul earlier today (August 12), causing traffic congestion during the morning commute.

According to the Dongjak Fire Station, the fire broke out at around 8:05 AM in an SUV traveling on Olympic-daero toward Gimpo, in the section between Dongjak Bridge and Hangang Bridge.

Firefighters completely extinguished the blaze 30 minutes after receiving the report, but the vehicle was completely burned down.

The driver, a man in his 40s, managed to escape the vehicle immediately and was confirmed to be uninjured.

Due to the accident, some lanes of Olympic-daero were restricted for over an hour, causing heavy traffic delays for morning commuters.

Police found no signs of drunk or drug-driving by the driver and are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.
