Japan's Ministry of Defense announced on the 12th that North Korea launched a projectile suspected of being a ballistic missile, which is estimated to have fallen outside the country's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

According to NHK and Kyodo News, the ministry added that no damage has been reported so far and it is currently analyzing the launch location and flight distance.

In response, the Japan Coast Guard urged vessels navigating in the area to pay close attention to subsequent updates.

The Japanese government reportedly convened an emergency response team composed of officials from relevant ministries at the Prime Minister's Office Crisis Management Center to gather and verify information.
