A massive LED moon installation, the largest of its kind in South Korea, has drawn attention as it entered test operations at the ecological detention basin area in Jukheon-dong, Gangneung.

Gangneung City installed the 10-meter-wide large LED moon sculpture within the ecological detention basin as part of the Moonlight Art Show project under the tourist hub city development initiative.

Starting in September, the site will feature a vibrant immersive media art show alongside visitor participation programs such as "Find My Moon," which incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Before its official launch, the city is currently running test operations even during the daytime, where the vibrant and striking colors are instantly capturing attention.

The Moonlight Art Show, set to debut on September 1, Gangneung City Citizens' Day, will be operated entirely free of charge without requiring prior reservations so that any citizen or tourist can enjoy it comfortably.

The city expects that the Moonlight Art Show project will increase tourists' length of stay, significantly contributing to boosting sales for local small business owners in lodging, restaurants, and neighborhood commercial districts, as well as vitalizing the local economy.
