The under-17 women's volleyball national team wrapped up the group stage of the world championship with five consecutive wins.

Led by head coach Lee Seung-yeo, the national team secured a 3-0 shutout victory against Algeria in their fifth and final Group D match of the FIVB Volleyball Girls' U17 World Championship held in Los Andes, Chile, today (August 12).

Finishing the group stage with a dominant five-game winning streak, the national team advanced to the round of 16 as the top seed in their group.

Algeria, sitting at the bottom of the group with four losses, was no match for the South Korean squad, which cruised with four straight victories prior to the match.

From the start of the first set, the team successfully took control of the momentum by scoring eight consecutive points, fueled by the stellar performances of Sohn Seo-yeon and Jang Su-in.

Consistently overwhelming Algeria, the national team comfortably claimed the first set with a massive 15-point margin at 25-10.

Although coach Lee Seung-yeo rested primary hitter Sohn Seo-yeon starting from the second set, the team's momentum did not waver.

Tied 9-9 in the second set, South Korea seized the initiative by scoring four straight points and maintained the lead without allowing a comeback, taking the second set 25-17.

Having secured the upper hand, the national team shifted its focus to testing its depth by heavily substituting players who had not seen much action in previous matches.

Despite a tight contest midway through due to Algeria's counterattack, the South Korean team remained steady.

Breaking a 15-15 tie with three consecutive points to widen the gap, Eom Min-seo scored the final 25th point with a powerful spike, completing a 3-0 sweep in just one hour and two minutes.

Jang Su-in led both teams with 13 points, while Eom Min-seo contributed 12 points to secure the victory.

Sohn Seo-yeon, who played only in the first set, added 6 points to bring her total to 97 points across five group matches, maintaining her position as the sole leader in scoring.

Having concluded the group stage flawlessly, the national team will play its round of 16 match against the fourth-place team from Group B tomorrow.
