What are the differing perspectives of Hong Kyung-min and KIM YUNA?
On the August 11 broadcast of the SBS variety show "You're my destiny", Hong Kyung-min and KIM YUNA joined as a new couple.
During the broadcast, Hong Kyung-min shared that his wife, KIM YUNA, followed an elite traditional Korean music course. Upon hearing that she was an alumnus of the National Traditional Arts High School where Lee Ji-hye also studied, Lee Ji-hye could not hide her surprise.
Hong Kyung-min also expressed his surprise at learning Lee Ji-hye attended the same school, saying, "I wondered what Ji-hye did, and it turns out she played the geomungo," revealing that Lee Ji-hye majored in the traditional instrument.
In response, Kim Sook asked Lee Ji-hye if she graduated. When Lee Ji-hye answered that she dropped out, Kim Sook joked, "Then does that mean you only have a middle school education?" bringing laughter to the set.
Explaining that she dropped out when she went to study abroad, Lee Ji-hye said, "If I had stayed at this school, I could have followed an elite path. My future in traditional music would have been guaranteed." Regarding the reason she dropped out, she quipped, "I went through a severe adolescent phase," and added with a laugh, "I apologize, but I became a celebrity anyway," drawing attention.
On this day, Hong Kyung-min and KIM YUNA experienced differing views regarding child-rearing. They were seen clashing over various values, including economic perspectives and educational philosophies.
However, whenever such moments arose, Hong Kyung-min persuaded his wife with his smooth talk. Hearing this, Kim Gura reacted in exasperation, saying, "You really need to have a battle with Moon Hee-jun."
The couple's opinions clashed once again, moving from allowance to media control. Hong Kyung-min brought up stories from the past yet again, prompting his wife to voice everyone's feelings by shouting, "Please stop talking about the past," creating laughter.
KIM YUNA shared that she ended up reducing their children's academy classes due to Hong Kyung-min's persuasion. She voiced her frustration, saying, "At first, I was so angry. Because dad provides a fallback, the children start trusting dad and acting spoiled."
Meanwhile, the children went shopping at Daiso and played at a claw machine arcade with Hong Kyung-min behind their mother's back. Seeing that they spent more money than the value of the dolls they actually won, the mothers on the panel could not hide their simmering frustration.
Right at that moment, KIM YUNA appeared. Despite KIM YUNA's arrival, the children and Hong Kyung-min did not stop playing the claw machine. Expressing her heartache, KIM YUNA confessed, "I was so angry. Even though I arrived, they kept going. I felt the children acted that way even more because they had something to rely on and because dad never stood against mom's words."
She then expressed her wish, saying, "I want my husband to take my side from now on and give more weight to a single word from mom."
In response, Hong Kyung-min agreed, saying, "We should do that. I think that's right." However, he added, "But the funny thing is, for whatever reason, when Rawon successfully won a pouch this size, it felt like winning a medal. Seeing that, I thought it would feel even more joyful if a child who studies well brought home a 100 on an exam."
Hearing this, KIM YUNA snapped back, "Rawon used to do well in the past too." To this, Hong Kyung-min quipped, "Don't think about the past. Back then, I was famous too. I was doing really well," once again bringing up his old glory days and causing an outburst of laughter.
