The prosecution has demanded a life sentence for Kim Dong-hwan, who has been put on trial for plotting to kill six people, including a fellow airline pilot he previously worked with, and actually murdering one of them.

During the final sentencing hearing for Kim on charges including murder, attempted murder, and preparation for murder held at the Busan District Court today (August 11), the prosecution asked the court to hand down a life sentence.

The prosecution also requested the court to issue an order for Kim to wear a location-tracking electronic device for 30 years.

The prosecution emphasized that Kim's method was brutal, as he stabbed the deceased victim multiple times with a weapon, and that despite admitting to the crime, he has neither apologized to the victim and the bereaved families nor shown any sense of guilt.

In his closing statement, Kim continued to make remarks hinting at additional murders.

He stated, "I predicted all of this. I predicted that nothing would be revealed in court, how the world would view me, and how the media would demonize me in their reports. So, there is nothing really to be surprised about."

He then directly targeted the remaining five intended victims.

Kim claimed, "To the five who are still left, your futures have already been decided. Before starting the operation last March, I hired contractors and began. I handed the work over to people who will kill them and clean up the aftermath if there are any left that I fail to kill."

When the prosecutor asked if he felt any regret or remorse for his crime, Kim retorted, "Do you think I would?" and answered, "Not at all."

When the presiding judge asked once again, "Do you have no sense of remorse toward the victims at all?" Kim argued, "None, because they are the perpetrators."

Kim's sentencing hearing is scheduled to be held at 10:00 AM on August 21.
