The belated good deed by K League 1 club Gwangju FC has come to light.
A tip along with a post titled "Reporting the righteous good deed of the Gwangju FC club" was uploaded to the traffic accident-focused video channel 'Han Moon-chul TV' today (August 11).
The situation unfolded from an accident around 2:30 AM on the 9th, when a passenger car running on the Second Ring Road near Singa Underpass in Singa-dong, Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, crashed into a truck.
Due to the impact of the crash, the truck overturned and a fire broke out in the passenger car.
However, dashcam footage from the time shows the Gwangju team bus stopping next to the burning vehicle, with some members of the team rushing out.
According to the Gwangju club, the team bus was returning after playing an away match against Bucheon FC 1995 on the previous day, the 8th, when they noticed the crashed vehicle and stopped.
Gwangju FC midfielder Shin Chang-mou and foreign import Friðjónsson quickly ran over and rescued the driver from the flaming vehicle.
Club staff, the bus driver, and trainers also got out and began extinguishing the fire using a fire extinguisher from the team vehicle.
Lawyer Han Moon-chul watched the footage, expressed his gratitude to the club officials and team members, and applauded them.
The drivers of both vehicles were injured and transported to the hospital.
The K League is aware of this fact and is considering an award for the Gwangju club.
An official from the league stated, "Since we also became aware of the relevant situation through the video, we plan to hear the full story from the club before considering an award."
