All four elite teams of the proprietary artificial intelligence foundation model project, known as Dokpamo, have been selected as "Notable Models" on a global AI competitiveness index.

South Korea, the United States, and China are the only countries listed on the index, prompting evaluations that South Korea's domestic independent AI technology has been recognized on the global stage.

All AI models developed in the first half of this year by the four elite teams of the Dokpamo project—Motif Technologies' "Motif 3," LG AI Research's "K-EXAONE 2.0," SK Telecom's "A.X K2," and Upstage's "Solar Open2 250B"—have been listed as "Notable Models" by Epoch AI, a U.S.-based non-profit AI research organization.

Epoch AI's index is widely regarded as a key benchmark for gauging national AI competitiveness, as it is utilized as a major metric in the "AI Index" report published annually by the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) in the U.S.

During the first half of this year, the four elite teams developed and open-sourced competitive independent AI foundation models despite relatively limited resources and environments compared to global big tech companies.

The Ministry of Science and ICT evaluated that this achievement demonstrates South Korea's domestic AI competitiveness and its capability to build an open ecosystem.
