Over the past weekend, as a heatwave warning remained in effect, three people died consecutively from heatstroke in Incheon.

According to Incheon City, at around 10:00 PM on the 8th, a 911 report was filed stating that a 69-year-old individual, A, had collapsed at their home in Yeonsu-gu.

When 119 paramedics arrived, A's body temperature had surged to 41 degrees Celsius, and though transferred to a hospital, A passed away an hour after the report.

On the same morning, a 35-year-old individual, B, who had gone hiking with their father, was transported to a hospital with a high body temperature and in a comatose state, but ultimately died.

Additionally, at around 12:35 PM on the same day, a man in his 50s who lost consciousness on the stairs of a building in Gyeyang-gu was transported to a hospital following a report by a passerby, but died the following day.

Based on medical staff opinions from the hospitals, Incheon City believes these individuals died from heatstroke and is verifying the specific details.

On the 8th, when the reports of heat-related illnesses were filed, a heatwave warning was in effect across all of Incheon, recording a highest temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius (100°F) and a highest perceived temperature of 36 degrees Celsius (97°F).

From May 15 to today, the cumulative number of heat-related deaths tallied in Incheon has risen to four, including a man in his 40s who passed away on the 3rd.
