South Korea's trio of PGA Tour stars—Kim Si-woo, Tom Kim, and Im Sung-jae—are set to embark on their 2026 playoff journey.

Following the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship, the final regular-season event, players ranked within the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings have earned their spots in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first playoff event, which kicks off in two days (August 13, Korean time) for a four-day run at TPC Southwind (par 70) in Memphis, Tennessee, with a total purse of 20 million dollars.

Although he has not secured a victory this season, Kim Si-woo has accumulated points through solid performances and will begin the playoffs ranked 7th in the FedEx Cup standings.

Having competed in 21 tournaments this season and made the cut 20 times, Kim Si-woo has recorded 10 top-10 finishes, including two runner-up results.

His performance at the St. Jude Championship last year was also respectable.

Kim Si-woo finished in a tie for 14th at last year's tournament held at the same venue, advancing to the second playoff round.

Tom Kim's momentum this season is equally formidable.

Having broken out of a slump by winning the Genesis Scottish Open last July, Tom Kim tied for 5th in the preceding Wyndham Championship, climbing to 26th in the FedEx Cup standings.

This marks Tom Kim's first appearance in the playoffs in two years, since 2024.

Im Sung-jae, who struggled with injuries early in the season, also secured his spot on the St. Jude Championship entry list, ranking 53rd in the FedEx Cup standings.

He has recorded only three top-10 finishes out of 20 tournaments this season.

However, Im boasts the most stellar playoff record among South Korean players.

He has advanced to the Tour Championship, the final playoff event, for seven consecutive years from 2019 through last year.

Because he must finish within the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings to advance to the second playoff event, the BMW Championship, this week's performance is crucial for Im.

Top-ranked players, including FedEx Cup leader Scottie Scheffler of the United States, alongside Cameron Young (USA), Matt Fitzpatrick (England), Wyndham Clark (USA), and Chris Gotterup (USA), will also compete without exception to warm up.

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, who won this year's Masters but has made relatively few PGA Tour appearances, will also make his return to the tournament after a two-year absence.

Having played in only 11 regular-season PGA Tour events this time around, McIlroy failed to accumulate enough points, slipping to 12th in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Ahead of the playoffs, McIlroy expressed a relaxed attitude in an interview with golf media outlet Daily Drive, saying, "As long as I finish within the top 30 to reach the final tournament, why would I need to play in a lot of events?"
