An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck western Colombia, prompting residents to evacuate in panic.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey and the Colombian Geological Survey, the strong earthquake occurred at around 7:00 a.m. local time on the 10th.

The epicenter was located in Choco Department along the Pacific coast. The tremor shook the capital city of Bogota, and shaking was reportedly felt as far away as the border region with Venezuela.
