Regarding malicious complaints at Bucheon Ojeong Elementary School in Gyeonggi Province, which was handled as the first case by the teachers' rights protection team, Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education An Min-seok is filing a criminal complaint against the parent involved.

This marks the first case of filing a complaint against a parent who infringed upon educational activities since Superintendent An took office.

Superintendent An held a press conference at the southern headquarters of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education today (August 10) and stated, "Regarding the serious infringement of educational activities that occurred at Ojeong Elementary School, I will personally visit the Bucheon Ojeong Police Station today to submit a criminal complaint under the name of the superintendent."

A teacher at Ojeong Elementary School reportedly received complaints from a parent after mediating a dispute between children.

The parent in question staged a picket protest in front of the school regarding the matter. While the Teachers' Rights Protection Committee recognized the parent's actions as an infringement on educational activities, it was found that the teacher had been criminally charged and hit with a civil lawsuit for child abuse by the parent.

After forming the provincial office's teachers' rights protection team and taking charge as its head, Superintendent An designated this case as "Case No. 1," meeting with school officials and the victimized teacher to review countermeasures.

Superintendent An said, "Although the parent stated they would apologize to the teacher and withdraw the lawsuit filed against the teacher, I decided to proceed with the complaint after much deliberation, taking into consideration the positions of the teacher and the school." He added, "This complaint demonstrates the superintendent's resolve that actions shaking schools and threatening teachers will not be tolerated."

He continued, "We can no longer leave unattended the reality where legitimate educational activities collapse in the face of malicious complaints and threats, and a teacher's dedication is instead met with reports and lawsuits," emphasizing, "We will respond strictly in accordance with the law and principles against actions that seriously infringe upon the safety and dignity of educators."
