Police have launched an investigation after a foreign female farm worker in her 30s was found dead a day after she went missing while doing field work in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the police and fire authorities on the 10th, victim A was found dead in the bushes near a farmhouse in Sejongdaewwang-myeon, Yeoju, at 7:00 PM on the 8th.
A is reported to have disappeared after saying she was feeling unwell and went to take a break while doing field work at the farm where she was employed at 3:00 PM on the 7th, the day before.
Police, who received a missing person report from the farm owner, conducted a joint search with fire authorities and found A collapsed and dead in the bushes approximately 28 hours after she went missing.
Police plan to check whether A had any chronic illnesses and conduct an autopsy on the body to determine the exact cause of death.
A police official stated, "The deceased was a worker who entered the country on a seasonal worker visa with an 8-month stay condition," adding, "It has not yet been determined whether she suffered from a heat-related illness."
Meanwhile, a heavy heatwave alert had been in effect since the 3rd in the area where A died, and the temperature at the time of her disappearance was recorded at 36.2°C (97°F).
