Director Hur Jin-ho, who helmed the film "The Assassin(s)", shared that his greatest focus when directing a film based on a true story was maintaining a balanced perspective.

Attending the press conference for "The Assassin(s)" held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul on the morning of the 10th, Director Hur stated, "Since this film is motivated by a real event, I tried to balance the different perspectives looking at that incident."

He added, "While reviewing research materials and interviews, I aimed to maintain a balanced view without leaning toward any preconceived notions on either side. Also, as we adopted the style of a mystery thriller while making this into a film, I worked hard to build tension and pacing fitting for that genre."

"The Assassin(s)" is inspired by the assassination of First Lady Yuk Young-soo, which took place on August 15, 1974. Director Hur recalled his memories of the time, saying, "It was an event that happened when I was in the fifth grade of elementary school." He emphasized, "I tried to use my memories while recreating the 1970s. Although not many locations evoking that era remain, I paid a lot of attention to bringing out the details."

Director Hur plans to shed multi-faceted light on the modern historical tragedy of the First Lady assassination through the perspectives of Cheol-gu (Yoo Hai-jin), a police officer tracking the truth of the case, and reporters Jae-hwan (Park Hae-il) and Young-il (Lee Minho), who pursue the mastermind behind it.

The film is scheduled to meet audiences in theaters this Chuseok season.
