Today, the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD) held wheelchair protests on the subway during the morning commute at Yongsan and Hyehwa stations, causing northbound trains on Line 1 to temporarily bypass Yongsan Station without stopping.

Starting at 8:00 a.m. today, SADD held boarding protests on the platforms of Line 1 Yongsan Station and Line 4 Hyehwa Station, demanding that the government reflect the "disability rights budget" in the 2027 budget proposal.

Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) bypassed Yongsan Station for northbound trains (bound for Seoul Station and Cheongnyangni Station) without stopping for about two hours from 8:10 a.m. to 10:06 a.m.

Once the non-stop measure ended, the activists boarded the trains.

Hyehwa Station did not implement the non-stop measure, allowing activists in wheelchairs to board the trains in groups of two to three at around 9:00 a.m.

After moving to Seoul Station, the activists will hold a resolution rally at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Korea Public Finance Information Service to declare a sit-in protest demanding the abolition of discriminatory budgets for people with disabilities and the securing of disability rights budgets, and they will begin a tent sit-in.

SADD announced that it will hold subway boarding protests on the platform of Hyehwa Station every Monday until the 24th of this month to urge the guarantee of basic rights for people with disabilities.
