Seoul Subway Line 1 inbound trains are currently bypassing Yongsan Station as the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD) staged wheelchair-based subway boarding protests at Yongsan and Hyehwa stations this morning (August 10).

Starting at 8 a.m. today, SADD held boarding protests on the platforms of Line 1 Yongsan Station and Line 4 Hyehwa Station, demanding that the government reflect "disability rights budgets" in the 2027 government budget proposal.

In response, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAI) began having inbound trains on Line 1 (bound for Seoul Station and Cheongnyangni Station) pass through Yongsan Station without stopping starting at 8:10 a.m. today.

Line 1 outbound trains and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line are operating normally.

As no non-stop passing measures were implemented at Hyehwa Station, the activists in wheelchairs split into groups of two to three and successfully boarded the trains at around 9 a.m.

After moving to Seoul Station, the activists plan to hold a "Resolution Rally to Abolish Disability Discrimination Budgets and Win Disability Rights Budgets" in front of the Korea Fiscal Information Service at 11 a.m. today and launch a tent protest.

SADD announced that it will hold subway boarding protests on the platforms of Hyehwa Station every Monday morning until the 24th of this month to urge the guarantee of basic rights for people with disabilities.

The group staged a protest at Noryangjin Station on the 3rd and at Yongsan Station today, continuously attempting unannounced simultaneous boardings at platforms of other stations as well.
