A teenager who drifted away while riding a rubber boat off Dadaepo Beach in Busan has been rescued by the Coast Guard.
According to the Busan Coast Guard on August 10, a report was received at 6:22 p.m. the previous day stating that a person on a recreational rubber boat was drifting about 300 meters west of Morundae, Dadaepo, Saha-gu, Busan.
The nearby military unit spotted the individual using a thermal observation device (TOD) and reported the situation to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard dispatched a coastal rescue boat to the scene and rescued the 15-year-old, identified by his surname A.
Boy A was reported to be in good health and was safely handed over to his parents.
The Coast Guard stated, "It appears that Boy A's rubber boat drifted away due to strong winds," and urged, "When weather conditions worsen, such as during strong winds, people must exercise extreme caution when using water recreational equipment like tubes and rubber boats."
