Fighter jets were scrambled after two civilian aircraft violated a temporary flight restriction zone over a golf course where a tournament was being held with U.S. President Donald Trump in attendance.

According to U.S. media outlets on the 9th (local time), the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) stated that it scrambled two F-16 fighter jets to escort two civilian aircraft out of the temporary flight restriction zone over a golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The golf course is the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, owned by President Trump.

With the LIV Golf New York tournament underway, President Trump also visited the golf course on this day.

The reason why the civilian aircraft violated the flight restriction zone has not been determined.

Civilian aircraft are required to check the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) temporary flight restriction zone list prior to operation.

The U.S. media outlet New York Post reported that there have been multiple instances since his return to office where NORAD fighter jets were scrambled after civilian aircraft breached the airspace around President Trump.

Although the violation of the flight restriction zone may have been a simple mistake, authorities are expected to investigate the exact circumstances, especially given the continuous string of assassination threats against President Trump.

In last April, an armed man was arrested while attempting to breach a security checkpoint at a dinner event for President Trump and the White House press corps.

Recently, a man possessing firearms was caught at a golf course in California that President Trump was scheduled to visit.

In July 2024, an incident occurred where a bullet grazed the upper part of President Trump's right ear while he was campaigning as a presidential candidate.
