With relatively cold air flowing in, the extreme heat is expected to ease somewhat this week.

Consequently, heat wave warnings and advisories have been eased in Seoul and many other regions, but hot weather around 33°C (91°F)—equivalent to a heat wave advisory—is expected to continue for the time being.

Today (August 10), afternoon temperatures are forecast to hover around 24°C (75°F) in Taebaek and 28°C (82°F) in Gangneung.

Meanwhile, as winds cross over the mountain ranges, Seoul, Cheongju, Daejeon, and Gwangju will see highs of 33°C (91°F).

Looking at current temperatures, tropical nights are continuing mainly in the southern regions, while Seoul will skip a tropical night with a morning low of 24.9°C (77°F).

Meanwhile, light rain of around 5mm will continue until this morning in the eastern coast of Gangwon, the Yeongnam region, and Jeju Island.

Other regions will have partly cloudy skies today.

Strong winds are expected nationwide today, including in Jeju Island, which is currently under a strong wind advisory. For the time being, caution is required regarding high winds and strong swells across all seas.

There will be frequent spells of rain this week, centered around the east coast and Jeju Island.
