The National Assembly's Special Committee on Parliamentary Investigation into the National Election Commission will hold its third hearing today (August 10) to uncover the truth behind the shortage of ballot papers during the June 3 local elections.

As this is practically the final hearing before the special committee's active term ends at the end of this month, a tense battle of nerves is expected between the ruling and opposition parties over the recount schedule and the scope of the investigation.

Former National Election Commission Chairperson Noh Tae-ac and Acting Chairperson Wi Chul-hwan are scheduled to attend as witnesses, and today's hearing is expected to focus heavily on questioning regarding allegations of the "false entry of voter turnout" on the day of the June 3 local elections.
