A fire broke out at an agricultural and marine products market in Songcheon-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, at around 11:15 PM yesterday (August 9).

Recognizing the potential for the fire to spread, fire authorities engaged in firefighting operations issued a Level 2 response at around 11:30 PM, about 15 minutes after the fire started.

No casualties have been confirmed so far.

The Jeonju city government sent out an emergency text message urging nearby residents to take safety precautions against inhaling smoke.

Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage once the flames are fully extinguished.
