A worker in their 50s died and another was injured today (August 9) at a Maeil Dairies plant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Police stated that two workers, including a person in their 50s identified as A, were found collapsed at around 3 p.m. today at the Maeil Dairies Pyeongtaek plant located in Jinwi-myeon, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
They were discovered by a factory employee and rushed to the hospital.
Worker A ultimately passed away, while the other worker in their 50s sustained minor injuries.
The location where worker A and the other individual were found has been identified as a condensed milk storage tank.
Police presume that worker A and the other individual collapsed while cleaning the inside of the tank.
Police plan to investigate factory officials regarding the specific work details, circumstances of the accident, and compliance with safety guidelines, while also determining the exact cause of death through an autopsy.
A police official stated, "After wrapping up the preliminary investigation, we plan to transfer the case to the Serious Accidents Investigation Team of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency's Violent Crime Investigation Unit."
