The New York Times reported on the 8th (local time) that the U.S. stockpile of Patriot missiles, a core air defense system, has fallen below 1,700 as forces were depleted due to conflicts such as the war with Iran.
According to the report, the U.S. has used more than 1,500 Patriot missiles during operations involving Iran, and the remaining U.S. military Patriot stockpile is estimated to be under 1,700.
The New York Times reported that hundreds of state-of-the-art air defense interceptor missiles have been redeployed from South Korea and other parts of Asia to the Middle East, along with some aircraft carrier strike groups and elite U.S. Navy destroyers.
