The monthly tourism balance has recorded its highest level since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the tourism balance for June of this year posted a surplus of $596.6 million, which is approximately 841.8 billion won.

This is the second-highest figure on record, following the $661.5 million recorded in October 2008.

The tourism balance continued in a deficit for 72 consecutive months from March 2020, when COVID-19 began to spread in earnest, until February of this year, before turning into a surplus starting in March.
