Koreans residing in South Dakota, U.S., are now able to obtain local driver's licenses without having to take separate driving tests.

The Korean National Police Agency announced today (August 9) that, starting tomorrow (August 10), Korean driver's licenses can be exchanged for South Dakota licenses under the South Korea-South Dakota Driver's License Reciprocity Agreement.

Korean citizens aged 18 or older who are legal residents with a Korean driver's license can receive a South Dakota driver's license (Class 1) simply by passing a vision test, without any additional examinations.

South Dakota has become the 31st U.S. state to sign a driver's license reciprocity agreement with South Korea.

The number of Korean expatriates living in South Dakota is approximately 2,103.
