Lee Ho-jae, who transferred to German 2nd division club SV Darmstadt 98, has scored a goal in his debut match.

Lee scored a chasing goal in the second half when his team was trailing 0-2 during the opening match of the 2. Bundesliga against Holstein Kiel held today (August 9) at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor in Darmstadt, Germany.

Starting the match on the bench, Lee stepped onto the pitch in the 15th minute of the second half, replacing Fynn Lakenmacher, to make his European stage debut.

In the 31st minute of the second half, he received a pass from Kai Klefisch on the right side of the penalty area and found the back of the net with a powerful right-footed shot.

Having turned the momentum around with Lee's goal, Darmstadt secured a valuable point as Aleksandar Vukotić scored an equalizer in the 41st minute of the second half.

Holstein Kiel took control of the game with consecutive goals by Guillermo Bueno in the 8th minute of the first half and Phil Harres in the 42nd minute of the first half, but ended the match in a 2-2 draw.

Lee, who played for K League 1 club Pohang Steelers with 53 goals in 177 appearances, transferred to Darmstadt late last month.

Darmstadt is the club where former national team coach Cha Bum-kun first took his steps onto the German stage.

Players such as Ji Dong-won (Macarthur) and Paik Seung-ho (Birmingham City) have previously passed through Darmstadt.
