Police have launched an investigation after two men in their 60s were found stabbed to death in Seoul's Jungnang-gu.

Seoul Jungnang Police Station is investigating the incident where two men in their 60s, believed to be acquaintances, were found stabbed to death at a residence in Myeonmok-dong, Jungnang-gu, around 4:00 AM today (August 8).

Fire authorities responded to an emergency call reporting that "one man was found collapsed with a stab wound to the neck and the other with a wound to the abdomen," discovering the two men in cardiac arrest inside a room.

The report was made after one of the two men, who was still conscious at the time, notified an acquaintance of the situation.

Firefighters transported both men to the hospital while performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but both were pronounced dead.

Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and conducting neighborhood inquiries to locate witnesses.

At this stage, no other suspects besides the two deceased men have been identified.

Police are investigating the possibility that the two men fought and stabbed each other, while also keeping the possibility open that a third party was involved.

Police secured one weapon at the scene, which is presumed to have been used in the incident.

A police official stated, "It is currently impossible to conclusively say who the perpetrator or the victim is," adding, "It has not been verified who committed the act first or whether it was a mutual assault."

Police plan to request an autopsy of the bodies from the National Forensic Service and determine the exact circumstances based on the results.
