A sanitation worker collecting waste has died after being struck by a garbage truck.

The Seoul Hyehwa Police Station responded to a report at around 2:40 AM yesterday (August 7) that a sanitation worker in his 60s was found collapsed in an alley in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The man was transported to a hospital, but ultimately died.

Police believe that the man, who was performing waste collection work alone, got out of the garbage truck without turning off the engine and was crushed between the vehicle and a wall.
